Meet Katy…

Hello! I’m Katy and I’m thrilled you want me to be your nail tech!

I’ve been doing nails professionally since 2014, but my love for creating and hospitality go way back.

Raised in beautiful settings like Bryce Canyon and Joshua Tree, the natural world has always inspired me to draw, paint, and create. These inspiring locations also helped steer me in the direction of my undergraduate degree in Environmental Studies at the University of California Santa Cruz. During that time, I worked as a receptionist in the Psychology Department, and in the summer, became a Park Ranger at Joshua Tree National Park. These helped me realize how fulfilling it is to help others.

Jump ahead to 2011, when I moved to Boulder, Colorado to see if setting roots here was right. I worked for several years in a software learning company which, while wonderful in its own way, didn’t lend much to my passions for creativity and hospitality. So I started a nail art blog called Nailed It in 2011. This was the early years of social media like Pinterest and Instagram, which allowed thousands of users to see and share my designs and truly started my life in nails.

Through Nailed It, I was nominated and won awards for several “Best Of…” awards in publications including InStyle Magazine and Marie Claire Magazine; had features for nail-focused magazines and other online outlets including NAILS Magazine, Nail It! Magazine, and Lulus.com; and grew to amass quite an unexpected, large group of followers. This ultimately inspired me to go to Cosmetology School in 2013 for a license in Nail Technology.

Upon graduating and receiving my nail tech license, I began working at the Spa at St Julien in Boulder, and stayed for 9 years before venturing out as a solo nail artist. Those years really embedded in me how rewarding it is to make others feel good, especially through my own artistry and connection.

In the summer of 2023, I signed the lease for my studio in Indie Salons, a shared studio space in the heart of Boulder.

Professionally, I believe…

Proper sanitation is paramount. I maintain this through the use of disposable & single use products, disinfection time between clients, and policies against communicable diseases.

Communication between me and my clients will yield the best service possible.

Working together as client and technician, at home and in the studio, will keep your manicures and pedicures beautiful for longer.

Personally…

I have a little cat named Monkey, who I love and you’ll grow to love.

I spend time outside of nails binging TV and documentaries, enjoying the beer scene in Boulder, and taking in as many mostly-EDM concerts as I can afford.

I never would have followed this dream without the encouragement of my friends. I can’t thank them enough for their continued support as I move through life!
